REturn to in person learning in a hybrid model starting the week of March 29th

We are happy to announce that the OUSD Board of Education made the recommendation that secondary schools start hybrid on-campus learning on March 29th if the county is in the Red Tier. We expect that the county will enter the Red Tier in the next two weeks. This hybrid system has students on campus two days a week in order to reduce class size by half. This reduction in class size is in place to follow the state guidelines for physical distancing in schools of six to four feet between students.

Students will be assigned to either Group A or Group B.  All students will meet with their teacher virtually on Mondays and then meet in person 2 days per week following their A or B schedule.  In the schedule below, Group A follows the yellow schedule and Group B follows the Blue schedule.

If you are planning to have your student remain fully in remote learning, please take a moment to fill out this Remote Learning Form, to assist us with planning.  If you have any questions, please contact the school.

    Virtual Learning Guidelines and Expectations

    Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:

Thank you for your patience and support as Oceanside Unified School District launches into virtual learning for the 2020-2021 school year. We look forward to the time we can welcome students to school safely. Until that can happen, we will be providing virtual learning.

OUSD would like to share with you the District’s guidelines and expectations regarding student and classroom privacy during virtual and hybrid learning. These guidelines and expectations are in place to ensure the safety and privacy of students, families, and staff.

    • Parents and students shall not audio or video record or stream any virtual lessons. This includes lessons or instruction provided via telephone or a videoconferencing program.

    • Students should not share their login information, meeting links, or passwords with others.

    • Parents/guardians can provide support to students in virtual learning, and avoid participating in online face-to-face sessions or doing student’s work for them.

    • Students are encouraged, but not required, to have their video cameras on during virtual instruction to build relationships with the teacher and other students.

    • District educators may record certain virtual learning activities or instruction for educational purposes in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

For students who receive counseling services, the limits of confidentiality previously discussed continue to apply to virtual counseling services.

Please note, while the District provider can ensure confidentiality on his or her side of the platform (e.g., telephone or videoconference program), the District provider cannot ensure that the student’s side is confidential.  All virtual lessons and instruction are provided exclusively for educational purposes for District students: California School Board Association - Oceanside USD
